Junior Research Group Nanotoxicology
The Junior Research Group Nanotoxicology conducts research concerning the uptake and effects of orally ingested nanomaterials on the human body, with a main focus on the intestine and liver.
Inorganic (metallic, mineral) as well as organic particles are examined, which includes micro and nanoplastics. Toxicological and analytical testing methods are used, above all human cell cultures.
The group is based in the Food Safety department and is currently made up of one scientist, three doctoral candidates and a technical assistant.
The group is actively involved in national and international research projects.
