Provision of advice by the National Committee
In accordance with § 45 TierSchVersV, the National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes for the Federal Republic of Germany advises the competent authorities and the animal welfare bodies in matters dealing with the acquisition, breeding, accommodation or care of vertebrates and cephalopods in animal experiments and ensures an exchange of information on best practices in this field.
Who can submit inquiries?
Only competent authorities and animal welfare bodies can submit advisory requests to the National Committee. The National Committee does not answer inquiries from other institutions or from professional associations or private individuals.

What happens then?
First, you will receive a formal confirmation of receipt. Following a preliminary review, the National Committee decides whether your question will be answered on the basis of a specialist opinion, meetings with experts or by an expert working group. The choice of procedure depends on the complexity of the inquiry. The National Committee cooperates closely with independent experts possessing the required specialised knowledge in order to ensure high scientific standards.
You will be informed of the procedure to be applied as well as of the expected processing time.
The results and recommendations will be published on the website of the National Committee.
